Fine5 Dance Theatre "FOR MY BROTHER"

Wednesday 15. April at 19:00 - 20:30

Estonian Dance Agency, Tallinn

Fine5 Dance Theatre, in collaboration with Claresis Collectiv, presents E.-L. Karhu's play "For My Brother". It is a poetic and disturbingly honest story that reveals the inner world of a woman through her relationship with her beautiful and desired brother. The sister lives in the shadow of her brother, takes care of him, watches his love life and measures her worth through his gaze and social norms. The story progresses through everyday details, dreams, sexual fantasies and painful introspection, revealing the body as both a restrictive prison and a space for possible liberation. The sister's perspective on things and life is seemingly simple and straightforward, but through it a sharp social question emerges: who is allowed to be desired and loved and who is destined to remain invisible.

Tamur Tohver is a director, playwright, translator and lecturer in performing arts. His work focuses on the study of the inner impulses of the mind and body and the affective experience. As part of his doctoral thesis, he has developed Zero Point Practice and methods of bodily self-expression that combine psychological theatre (Stanislavsky), physical expression (Zarrill), and both affect (Massum) and field theory (Kõiv and Rosenberg). Tohver's directorial style seeks states where words, voice, movement and music form a unified psychophysical experience and where the viewer does not remain a passive observer, but is drawn into the immediate presence of the performance.

The premiere will be on April 6 at 7 pm at the Estonian Dance Agency's theatre hall (Hobujaama 12) and next performances will take place on April 11, 13, 14 and 15th.
