Join us as we hold an Aonach (market day) in celebration of the very tail end of the month of Lughnasa, when the traditional Celtic harvest festival of the same name was celebrated.
Historically a time of feasting, drinking, games, music, community gathering, diplomacy, and great displays by the tuatha, as well as an opportunity to buy and trade and enter into new partnerships and agreements for a year and a day.
Our Lughnasa celebration will be a one day event, with a fun day of activities, involving (weather permitting), turnips and axes, apples and arrows, sausage-in-a-bun cooked out on the outdoor grill, an evening with the campfire for those that can stay a while and of course the market, where we encourage people to come set up a small stall and sell or trade their wares.
Food is pot luck (everyone contributes something), so bring a dish you like that is suitable to share. If you special dietary needs, we recommend that your contribution caters to your needs. There is a large kitchen where dishes can be heated/finished off. We will have a large pot of something savoury as well and if any cooks wish to use the occasion to experiment on a captive audience they are of course welcome to use the kitchen!
