Movement workshop: Fake Feathers on Your Skin

How to work with techniques that we have heard about but have never really been able to practice with our own body and skin? Or we have, but only in our minds.

The movement workshop "Fake Feathers of Your Skin" is based on the methods of creating the production "Fakerz" and allows you to try out what you see on stage in the performance, questioning the techniques of which we’ve long been professionals. That's why we started working with the concept of "speculation".

Namely, our body has an incredible amount of information and ideas about ways to move, which are based on experience or imagination. If we try to visualize them, quite a large amount of knowledge can appear, including "false knowledge" about various dance practices.

In the workshop, we will therefore try to answer the questions:

• What happens if you engage in fake ballroom dancing or fake tango, pretending to be a "specialist"?
• How do we work together as a community to map out a spoof version of some real dance technique? How to performatively play it out together?
• How to seduce yourself with various techniques by faking, hacking and queering them?

The atmosphere of the workshop will be fun and pleasantly energetic, taking into account participants’ experience of movement. Everyone who wants to expand their way of thinking about dance and movement is welcome.

Previous movement experience is recommended, but not mandatory. People with special needs are also welcome, including people in wheelchairs.

The workshop will be supervised by Sveta Grigorjeva - Estonian director, choreographer, dancer and poet. She has published two collections of poetry, made even more stage productions. Danced in both her own and others' works. Completed Master's studies in Germany, at Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen. She is interested in the anarchic, expressive body and its possible political subversive nature.
