Want to live a long and happy life? Come on. You don't

Liberty Books Lisbon, Lisboa

If you did, you wouldn't drink, you'd sleep your eight hours, you'd stop picking fights, and you'd eat half as much.

Medicine has stretched the human lifespan a lot over the past 20 years. With enough doctor's appointments and enough time in intensive care, a person can now go decades without dying. Calling that a life takes some imagination. The number of active, healthy years hasn't moved at all over the last decade. Someone went and measured that line: it sits at 60 in almost every country.

I'm 61, I'm a world age-group champion, and I run the marathon well under 3 hours. This is How It's Done, and I host it together with Anna Iogansen, silver medalist at  World Marathon Age Group Championship.

Meet on September 12 at 18:00 at Liberty Santos

There will be a battle: running versus pharmacology. Anna spent most of her career inside pharma companies and follows everything medicine is doing on "Longevity". I coach masters runners and follow everything happening in sport physiology and training methods.

You'll find out how to live long and happy, not just long. There will be coffee, plenty of debatable claims, and opinions that contradict each other. Bring yours.

This is the first event in the LIBERTY RUNNING CLUB series – more to come through the season.

Yuri Strofilov

Two-time World age-group champion in the marathon, at 55+ and again at 60+. Former top manager at a major bank, founder of a running platform with 50,000+ users. Coaches champions.

The talk will be held in English.
