For the first time in Estonia for the Tallinn Fringe the hit-selling play Let’s Try Gay!

Two straight friends shoot a gay adult movie in this riotous comedy.

When two best friends, Jack and Phil, meet in a hotel to shoot a gay adult movie for the very first time, things don’t go to plan. Jack is struggling with life as an artist, whilst Phil is troubled with doubts about his sexual identity. Then, one night, they hatch a plan to create an art film of “two really straight men having sex”. This laugh out-loud comedy is a goofy deeper analysis of human nature.

I am very enthusiastic at the idea to take this show to Tallinn for the first time. – States Alessandro Onorato: We really enjoy our time together on stage, trying to improvise something new every time in a language that is not our first one, it is not easy, but I think the result is always very natural and funny. I love it when the audience has fun with us for the first half of the show, and slowly gets moved In the second when things get more serious. It’s definitely my favourite show to perform in and can’t wait to do it in Tallinn.

Freely inspired by the indendepent movie Humpday, this brand new theatre comedy was originally planned to debut at the 2020 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Let’s Try Gay was postponed due to pandemic, and first went stage at the Colchester Fringe in 2021, where it was rapturously  received by critics. “The duo got no shortage of laughs from the audience but also delivered a huge amount of depth to the characters…” – Paperchampionzine ★★★★ “A tender, sweet play about male friendship, insecurity and how men don’t express their feelings. Very well performed” - Britishtheatre “A tremenoud comic treat” - Culture Fix ★★★★ “Witty and funny” - Derek Awards ★★★★. This comedy drama was also awarded the prestigious “Premio Internazionale Fëdor Dostoevskij” in Italy.

The show is coming to Tallinn after sell-out runs in Colchester Fringe Festival (Eng), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Sco), International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival (Ire), in the Teatro Renzo Casali in Milan (Ita), at the Barcelona Fringe Festival (Spa), and in London at the Lambeth Fringe (Eng)..

Working in Milan since 2012, Underluminal is a well-known Italian theatre reality; with shows performed all over the country and that staged their shows in the past also in Switzerland, France, England, Ireland, Croatia, Estonia, Spain and Scotland.

Previous runs in Tallinn include the hit-selling "The last king of porn"

Alessandro Onorato is an enstablished Italian author of novels, dramas and short movies in Italian language.
