Lanterns In The Dark - Thornhill Christmas Lantern Project (Families)

• The community lantern project will happen during October and November leading up to the Christmas Fair on November 29th. 

• There will be five afternoons of free workshops for families and over 16s, led by community artist Kirsty Harris. 

• Come to one workshop and make a simple lantern, or more and get involved in making the bigger characters. 

• Finally, be part of the parade on 29th November as the festive finale to the Christmas Fair.

• The theme of the project this year is ‘The Holly King and the Oak King’ – a traditional story of seasonal cycles. Holly and Oak are trees that flourish in the woodlands surrounding Thornhill, so get to know them like never before as the two Kings (or Queens) engage in a battle for the light.
