Upper Carniola region

TRIP INFORMATION

Former US president George W. Bush once called Slovenia ‘a tiny piece of heaven on earth’. This time, our journey takes us once more to the Gorenjska region, where we’ll visit Bled, Bohinj, and Radovljica in a single day.

RADOVLJICA

Radovljica, a picturesque Slovenian town, combines history and nature to create an unforgettable experience. With its medieval roots, the town boasts well-preserved architecture and cobblestone streets lined with charming buildings that tell the story of its rich heritage. At its heart stands the impressive Radovljica Castle, a symbol of its historical significance, while the tranquil Radovna River meanders through the lush countryside, adding to the town's serene beauty. Known for its welcoming community, Radovljica offers visitors a step back in time and a chance to immerse themselves in Slovenia's breathtaking landscapes.

The town also holds a special place for chocolate lovers, being home to the renowned Radovljica Chocolate Festival. This annual celebration showcases an array of delectable creations, cementing its reputation as a haven for sweet treats. While exploring Radovljica, enjoy your morning coffee paired with a snack, perhaps even sampling its famous chocolate delights.

BOHINJ

Lake Bohinj, nestled in the embrace of the Julian Alps, is a pristine masterpiece of natural beauty. Its crystal-clear turquoise waters mirror the surrounding peaks, creating a serene and majestic atmosphere. As Slovenia's largest permanent lake, Bohinj is a sanctuary of tranquility and unspoiled wilderness. Whether you choose to kayak across its calm surface, hike the alpine trails for spectacular vistas, or simply bask in the peaceful ambiance, Bohinj offers an unparalleled escape into nature's embrace.

BLED

Lake Bled is a mesmerizing fusion of natural splendor and enchanting history. Its emerald-green waters cradle the iconic Bled Island, while the fairy-tale Bled Castle stands proudly on a rocky outcrop overlooking the lake. Visitors can row traditional Pletna boats to the island, where the 17th-century Church of the Assumption awaits, complete with its famed wishing bell and the challenge of climbing the 99 stone steps leading to it. A stroll along the lakeside promenade reveals stunning vistas that seem straight out of a storybook. Lake Bled’s timeless beauty and cultural charm make it an irresistible destination, offering a glimpse of paradise on Earth.
