Tour with the artist & book signing: Omar Victor Diop

On Saturday 26 August, we are excited to invite you to a tour of the new exhibition at Fotografiska by Senegalese photographer Omar Victor Diop. The tour will be led by the artist himself, and you will be able to buy the artist's book and have it signed on the spot.

Omar Victor Diop's striking photographs reveal a contemporary African sensibility and often focus on the rewriting of history, the diasporic experience and the global politics of black resistance.

Combining photography with other art forms, Diop's remarkable body of work encompasses fine art, fashion, design and portraiture. Using artistic self-portraiture as a primary means of engaging with complex ideas of representational politics, community embodiment and self-representation, his practice is characterised by carefully staged, bold and dramatic imagery in which the artist himself appears as the main visual protagonist and interlocutor. Diop currently lives in Dakar and works in Paris, New York and Senegal.
