KorFest Weekend: dance films
December 6th 6 p.m. at Tallinn University Nova cinema (room N-406)
The Dance for Camera course explores the interplay between site-specific choreography and visual storytelling. This creative process examines the relationship between location, cinematography, choreography, sound, editing and all the multiple layers of making a movement based work—where each medium is equally significant in shaping the final artistic vision.
During the course, students learned the fundamentals of filmmaking, taking on every aspect of production themselves. They choreographed, filmed, created sound, and edited their works—pushing their creative boundaries in the process. The result is a collection of truly auteur-driven dance films.
Over the course, third-year choreography students created their own unique dance films, resulting in 13 distinct works that showcase diverse approaches to movement and dance.
The course was led by lecturer Rūta Ronja Pakalne.
Join us for the screening of these films, followed by a Q&A session with the students.
