Korfest MA graduation piece x STL: Eveli Ojasaar “ALTERITY”

Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava (STL), Tallinn

Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava presents Eveli Ojasaare's master's thesis with Korfest, the festival of Tallinn University's BFM choreography student works

“ALTERITY” is a dreamlike solo performance reminiscent of an elevator ride, where with each passing floor, memory fragments become distorted and a sense of being trapped within one’s own skin intensifies. Melting the face, hanging overhead, forcing the body into a hunch, or in desperation consuming everything in its path—shame appears as a burden that accompanies every character entering the piercingly red space. A human becomes simultaneously ridiculous and sacred, grotesque and vulnerable, both the sufferer and the cause of suffering.

The relentless play of physical embodiment transforms beauty into ugliness and ugliness into beauty; it is a place where the human becomes inhuman, where the physical turns invisible, and where one equals many. From this emerges an existential and intimate relationship—the absurdity of being human, the weight of shame, and the pain of transformation.

“ALTERITY” is the master’s thesis performance by Eveli Ojasaar in the Choreography program at Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (TLÜ BFM).

Eveli Ojasaar is a choreographer and dancer currently pursuing a master’s degree in choreography at TLÜ BFM. Her work focuses on psychophysical role creation, collaborative processes, and performance art. Her artistic style is characterized by self-irony, absurdity, and physical embodiment.

She is also one of the founders and members of the creative collective KOOSSEIS, with whom she has co-created works such as a dance film exhibition and the performance “kvintessents” (2023), as well as the dance production “Dune date…” (2025), at STL  PREMIERE platform.
