PATCH MATCH — sew, stitch, place, and ask yourself: what does a piece of fabric tell? With Eva Geiser

Thursday 4. June at 18:00 - 21:00

MAISON SHIFT, Zürich

A workshop about patches as craft, statement, and marker of identity. A patch is more than a fix. As an appliqué, it can repair, mark, narrate, and make belonging visible.

In this workshop, you work with appliqué, sewing machines, and embroidery to develop your own textile sign. You also explore where a patch sits on the body and how textiles can communicate personal, social, or political messages.

You learn basic techniques and apply them directly to your own piece. Basic sewing machine skills are helpful, but curiosity for materials and making is more important.

What to bring:

  • A good pair of scissors, optionally a garment, and fabric scraps.

  • Basic sewing machine skills are an advantage.

  • Bring curiosity and an interest in working with materials and design!

Workshop Leader:
Eva Geiser is a lecturer at Zurich University of the Arts in textile processes, object development, and everyday design. Her practice brings together experience in costume design for theatre, opera, and film with projects on body extensions, performative objects, upcycling, and art.

Workshop language: German.

For every workshop, we have two budget tickets available. If you don’t see them in the ticket options, it means they are sold out.
