HOW WE DINE IS HOW WE LIVE
A YEMENI TABLE BY MALKA SULTAN
Somewhere between a dinner and an art installation.
What happens when an artist invites you to dinner?
Last year, Malka Sultan brought Yemeni food to our living room. What stayed with us wasn't only the wonderful flavours, but the way she approached the entire experience.
So we've invited her back.
Malka has an artist's eye and a cook's understanding of what food can do. For her, presentation isn't simply about making something beautiful. It's another way of telling a story.
This time, we're giving her the freedom to approach our table as a canvas.
What exactly will she create? We're leaving that to Malka.
Perhaps that's part of the pleasure: arriving somewhere without knowing quite what to expect.
AN INVITATION TO THE TABLE
Yemeni food carries a remarkable richness of flavours, aromas and traditions of hospitality.
But this evening isn't about recreating a Yemeni restaurant in Vilnius.
It's about discovering what happens when Malka brings her culinary heritage and artistic imagination into a room full of strangers.
There will be food to discover, stories to exchange and a table that might make you look twice before reaching for your plate.
And, as always, the evening will be shaped as much by the people who gather as by the person who cooks.
HOW WE DINE IS HOW WE LIVE
At Convivia, we invite people to cook because food has a wonderful ability to bring strangers together.
Every dinner is different. Every cook brings something personal. And every gathering becomes something none of us could have planned entirely.
This November, the table belongs to Malka.
We're rather curious to see what she'll do with it.
