HIT THE ROAD (2021)
Saturday 29 August | Runtime: 1h33m | Persian audio with English subtitles
Every family road trip has its moments. This one just happens to carry a secret.
The acclaimed debut feature from Panah Panahi follows a family of four on a journey across the Iranian countryside. Along the way, they bicker, laugh, sing, tease one another and share the familiar rhythms of family life, while an unspoken tension slowly begins to emerge beneath the surface.
Warm, funny and deeply moving, Hit the Road captures the joy, chaos and tenderness of being part of a family with remarkable honesty. Its humour feels effortless, its performances are unforgettable, and its breathtaking landscapes make every frame a pleasure to watch.
As part of our season celebrating the families we're born into and the families we build, Hit the Road reminds us that love is often expressed in the smallest gestures. It's a film about protecting the people closest to us, finding laughter in difficult moments, and making the most of the time we have together.
One of the most celebrated directorial debuts of recent years, Hit the Road is funny, surprising and quietly unforgettable. If you discover just one new favourite film this summer, let it be this one.

ABOUT FOMO OPEN-AIR CINEMA
We opened FOMO Open-Air Cinema in the summer of 2025 with one simple idea: to create the kind of summer cinema we'd always hoped to find in Tbilisi. As Australian film lovers, some of our favourite memories were evenings spent watching films outdoors after sunset, with a cold drink in hand and a great film on the big screen. We wanted to bring that experience here.
Whether you're joining us with friends, on a date, or flying solo, we hope FOMO becomes part of your summer.
Thank you for supporting local independent cinemas like ours and the Tbilisi film community. We look forward to welcoming you throughout the summer on the rooftop, and year-round downstairs at FOMO Secret Cinema.
FOOD & DRINK POLICY
Guests are welcome to bring food and drinks purchased inside Bazari Orbeliani to enjoy during the screening. Outside drinks are not permitted. FOMO bar one underneath the terrace offers a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks

HOW TO FIND FOMO OPEN-AIR CINEMA

OPEN-AIR CINEMA REFUND POLICY
As this is an outdoor event, screenings may occasionally be affected by weather. If a screening is cancelled before it begins due to unsuitable weather, ticket holders will receive either a full refund or the option to transfer their ticket to another screening. Once a screening has started, tickets become non-refundable.
WHAT TO WEAR
Tbilisi weather likes to keep us on our toes. Even after a hot day, it can cool down quickly once the sun goes down, and the rooftop breeze can be surprisingly fresh. We'd recommend bringing a light jacket or jumper, just in case.
