The screening will begin with a short film screening: Europa (1931) is a surrealist and antifascist lyrical work directed byStefan and Franciszka Themerson. The film was lost for almost 80 years, as the copies were stolen by the German army at the beginning of World War 2. The film will be accompanied by an experimental live soundscape created by poetry and film researcher Aatos Ketvel. With this performance, Ketvel wishes to elevate the film's profile as a monumental avant-garde work, and as a chillingly modern depiction of the rise of fascism in Europe. The short film has a duration of 12 minutes.

Benjamin Christensen’s 1922 silent film was considered to contain satanic and sexual imagery and was banned in Finland at the time. Today, it is regarded as a cult classic that continues to amaze audiences with its special effects and social criticism.
