After his successful debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe and performances at the Barcelona Fringe, Turkish comedian Halil Caliskan brings the final version of his debut solo show HOMESICK to Vienna.

Raw, unapologetic and deeply personal, HOMESICK is an hour of English stand-up comedy about life abroad, identity crises, culture clashes and the strange decisions we make while trying to figure out where we actually belong.

Halil blends sharp observations, absurd stories and dark political satire as he takes you through his experience of building a life far from home.

About Halil Caliskan

Halil Caliskan is a Turkish stand-up comedian based in Amsterdam.

Born in Bursa, Türkiye, to an Albanian father and Bulgarian-Turkish mother, Halil eventually made his way through Istanbul and into Europe — following in his ancestors' footsteps, although this time with the relevant paperwork.

After a decade-long career in consulting ended in burnout, Halil took over a pizzeria in Amsterdam. Then came the pandemic, lockdowns, financial struggles and depression.

He eventually began turning those experiences into jokes, and in 2022 comedy became his full-time profession and passion.

Having lived in Europe for more than a decade, Halil's comedy sits somewhere between East and West, combining cultural observations, absurd storytelling, political satire and a distinctive deadpan delivery.

He has performed more than 200 shows, including appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe and Barcelona Fringe, and has worked alongside artists including Nick Rutherford, Derek Mitchell, Viggo Venn, Victor Patrascan, Deniz Goktas and Cem Isciler.
