Hietsun paviljonki
Earth Ears Ensemble in a Nordic reverie
In the opening night of GÁTT Nordic Arts Festival we hear a concert by exciting electroacoustic Earth Ears Ensemble. The late-night concert explores brand new Nordic contemporary music and invites the audience to different atmospheres in the beautiful Hietsun Paviljonki.
The concert features a snowy love song by Tytti Arola (FI) and Lil Lacy’s (DK/USA) Tribute to the Craft of Time. Thorkell Nordal’s (IS) composition summons demons with a mythical wind instrument from Icelandic folklore and in Jacob Ridderberg’s (DK) piece the ensemble is looking for new bird species. The hit song by Malin Bång (SE) explores the necessity of oxygen.
Earth Ears Ensemble (FI):
Livia Schweizer, flute
Lucy Abrams-Husso, clarinet
Iida-Vilhelmiina Sinivalo, cello
Helga Karen, piano
Tuukka Tervo, electronics
The Earth Ears ensemble was founded in 2021 with the goal of enlivening contemporary music performance with focus on experimentation and presenting lesser-heard ideas and voices in new concert settings.
