Comedy show in English - Nezar Al-Ott

Nezar is a Warsaw-based Arab comedian and host. In the last two years, he has performed in Berlin, Prague, Tallinn, Vienna, Bratislava, Brussels, Amman, and across most of Warsaw’s English-language comedy scene.

Before settling permanently in Poland and starting the journey of getting “Polished,” Nezar was born in Jordan to Palestinian parents, lived there for 25 years, then spent 5 years in Estonia before moving to Warsaw a few years ago.

Along the way, he worked many jobs — mostly aid work — finished several studies — mostly in Islam — and went through pleasant and awful experiences — mostly pleasant. Somehow, this unintentionally made him an expert in Islam, Arab identity, Middle Eastern wars, and the absurd process of leaving home, finding home, and trying to belong anywhere in between.

While preparing to pursue a PhD on these themes at the University of Warsaw — Inshallah — Nezar also writes jokes about them. This work-in-progress show is a test of jokes and stories from the past two years of “hard” work, and a new format being tried for the first time.
