jaZZanti concert: Ojanen – Nikula – Lötjönen

Monday 23. February at 19:00 - 20:30

Hakasalmen huvila, Helsinki

Eero Ojanen: piano
Heikki Nikula: bass clarinet
Antti Lötjönen: double bass

Trio Nueva Finland was founded in 1993 by Paroni Paakkunainen, Eero Ojanen, and Teppo Hauta-aho. They had played together in various contexts since the early 1960s. The trio’s aim was to maintain the art of free improvisation within Finnish jazz. The foundation of the trio’s expression was also the joy of creating music and the free handling of musical elements.

The traditions of Trio Nueva Finland are now being continued by a new lineup featuring Eero Ojanen, Heikki Nikula, and Antti Lötjönen. All musicians are renowned masters and have played together before — for example, Eero and Heikki were once members of drummer and visual artist Jonne Kesti’s ensembles. In keeping with Trio Nueva’s original ideals, we can look forward to hearing truly unique music.

The concert is one of the special events celebrating Jazz in Finland 100 Anniversary Year.
