EDWARD SCISSORHANDS Christmas Film Screening (ENG subs)
Tuesday 23. December at 18:30 - 20:15
FOMO Secret Cinema, Tbilisi
Tim Burton | USA | 1990 | 1h45m | Presented in the original English with English subtitles.
Tuesday 23 December we're showcasing a Tim Burton Christmas with two of his films back to back.
Part modern fairy tale, part Frankenstein reimagining, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS is easily Tim Burton's most earnest and heartfelt film. Edward, played by Johnny Depp, is left alone with scissors for hands after his creator dies too soon. When a suburban family brings him into their pastel world, curiosity turns into admiration, then suspicion.
The film contrasts Edward’s handmade, decaying mansion with the rigid order of suburbia. Depp plays Edward with restraint and vulnerability, relying on gesture and silence rather than dialogue while 90s "It Girl" Winona Ryder provides the emotional anchor. Danny Elfman’s score moves between wonder and melancholy, reinforcing the sense of inevitable loss.
Funny, tender, and quietly painful, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS is a one-of-a-kind Christmas film.
