BECOMING INTIMATE WITH PLANTS Dr. Claudia Welch & Rosemary Gladstar open lecture in Tallinn
Wednesday 15. July at 18:00 - 20:00
ankruSAAL, Tallinn
In the sweetness of high summer, you are warmly invited to meet - face to face - two truly extraordinary women whose life’s work and devotion weave together traditional medicine, ancient herbal wisdom, wellbeing, and a holistic understanding of health.
For the very first time in Estonia, 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑮𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓 and, for the second time, 𝑫𝒓. 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒉will come together for an open and heartfelt dialogue. Though they represent different traditions—Rosemary rooted in Western herbalism and Claudia in Āyurveda (a science originating from India’s Vedic culture)—their daily work circles around the same essential questions. How do we listen to nature? How do we come to know the effects of plants not only chemically, but experientially? How does our relationship with plants truly shape healing, everyday practices, and life as a whole?
The central themes of this public dialogue will include:
🌿An introduction to Western herbalism and its historical development
🌿The use and protection of medicinal plants in today’s world
🌿How to cultivate and deepen a living relationship with plants
🌿How Āyurveda understands the human–plant relationship
🌿Western and Eastern (Āyurvedic) approaches to herbal medicine
🌿An open Q&A circle with the audience
🌸 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑮𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓 - often called 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒅𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒏 𝑾𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒎, is an author, teacher and lifelong plant lover. Her love for the natural world began in early childhood, where her grandmother taught her how to gather wild plants for food and healing. It was through foraging that she recognized her calling - to heal, to teach, and to listen deeply to the wisdom of the green world.
Rosemary’s teachings extend far beyond recipes and herbal preparations. She invites us to restore our innate connection with living nature, to learn the language of our own bodies and hearts and to see plants as sources of wisdom and compassion. Her approach is both practical and accessible, welcoming beginners and experienced herbalists alike.
She is the author of 11 books and the founder of 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔, an organization dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of native medicinal plants. She is also a beloved presence at international gatherings such as the International Herb Symposium and the New England Women's Herbal Conference. Through her work, Rosemary has helped cultivate a global community rooted in respect, reciprocity and love for the plant kingdom.
