“Le Concert Royal” - baroque airs and dances from Versailles
“Le Concert Royal” recreates four different scenes of the French court culture during the reign of Louis XIV. Through the songs and instrumental pieces by courtly composers, pleasures of countryside, courtly love, an imaginary world of shepherds, nymphs and clowns, and an evening at the opera are portrayed in this program.
Estonian soprano Marta Paklar is known for her uniquely clear and bright colour of voice. She is rapidly acquiring a reputation both a soloist and ensemble singer, working regularly with a number of ensembles including Collegium Vocale Gent, Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Collegium1704 and with national ensembles Floridante and Studio Vocale.
