Flux Laboratory Athens on the occasion of the project Sin[us] organizes an evening of reflection on creative and collaborative practices with an open discussion.

The Field Trip event is an opportunity to share the intriguing stories behind a project and dive into the special moments of its research and formation process. The audience is invited to sit around a table for a casual conversation with the project’s contributors. The format of Field Trip usually consists of three key elements: a round table discussion, the presentation of audio-visual or other research material, as well as the parallel audio recording of the event that forms part of Flux Laboratory’s artistic archive.

On Thursday 23 February 2023 at 20:00 we will talk about the artistic residency and the piece Sin[us] by Kyriaki Nasioula (choreographer, set designer, architect engineer NTUA) and Maria Karoglou (chemical engineer NTUA). Sin[us] was born through their participation in the interdisciplinary artistic residency program for choreographers and scientists-researchers and its kinesiological part was presented last November at M54 art space in Athens. The five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and ether) acted as a source of inspiration and inquiry, taking the shape of a choreographic transit from one element to another.

Two main contributors of the residency process were Christiana Kazakou (interdisciplinary researcher, curator and program and communication consultant of the international interdisciplinary organization Leonardo/ISAST) and Gevi Dimitrakopoulou (filmmaker).

Christiana Kazakou will present her essay in the form of a printed toolkit. Through her role as a mentor, she will analyze aspects of the artistic residency as well as how her findings could be used in future cross-sectoral collaborations. Gevi Dimitrakopoulou recorded the creative and collaborative process. Her short film will be screened during the Field Trip event.

The discussion will be moderated by Chloe Aligianni, co-ordinator of the Art & Science program "Experiment A".
