ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE
Trio ’95 is an awarded piano trio with a wide-ranging repertoire, active since 2003. The ensemble consists of pianist Rasmus Andreas Raide, violinist Robert Traksmann, and cellist Marcel Johannes Kits. The highly acclaimed musicians began their musical journey together as classmates at the Tallinn Music High School under Laine Leichter and later Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann. They pursued higher studies in Germany – in Berlin and Karlsruhe – and have taken master classes with Prof. Francis Gouton and Prof. Aleksandr Bonduryanski.
Among their competition achievements, the most notable is 1st Prize at the International Johannes Brahms Chamber Music Competition (2025). They have also won 1st Prize at the “Pavasario Sonata 2012” competition, 1st Prize at the International Ilmari Hännikäinen Chamber Music Competition in Finland (2020), and 1st Prize with several special awards at the International Chamber Music Competition “Tallinn 2021.”
In addition to performing in Estonia, the trio has appeared in Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Finland, and Lithuania.
The trio places great value on performing Estonian music and expanding the repertoire for piano trio. Their programs have included works by Jaan Rääts, Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür, and Tõnu Kõrvits. For the Estonian Music Days and the Glasperlenspiel Festival in 2022, new works were written for the trio by Liisa Hõbepappel, Ülo Krigul, Rein Rannap, and Kristjan Randalu.
Trio ’95 received the Annual Award of the Estonian Cultural Endowment’s Music Endowment (2020) for their international competition success and extensive concert activity. Their broad repertoire spans from Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms to contemporary composers.
