From the monumental Bach–Busoni Chaconne to Kancheli’s poetic miniatures, from Rautavaara’s richly coloured études to Sibelius’s introspective impromptus, each work reveals a new facet of the piano’s boundless expressive possibilities. Often, simple musical material gains its power through repetition, varied use of register, and silence. Despite the technical demands, the music retains a contemplative and meditative atmosphere.
