Five decades of Miles Davis. A five-course dinner, hand-picked wines and a line-up of Latvian jazz stars – all in one unforgettable evening.
Riga Wine & Champagne joins forces with the Pink Noise Riga music festival to celebrate the centenary of legendary musician Miles Davis with a special new event – the musical wine dinner Cookin’ with the Miles Davis Latvian All-Stars.
How will it work?
Aigars Nords will select and recount some of the most colourful episodes from Miles Davis’s life throughout the evening. Together with Dāvis Jurka of the Latvian Radio Big Band, he will also curate the evening’s musical repertoire.
Chef Valters Zirdziņš (B7) and sommelier Jānis Volkinšteins (Vieta) will match the food and wines to Miles Davis’s musical legacy.
Stepping into the roles of Miles and his musical collaborators, Latvia’s leading musicians – Dāvis Jurka, Kārlis Vanags, Gints Pabērzs, Miķelis Dzenuška, Rūdolfs Dankfelds, Toms Poišs, Ritvars Garoza, Reinis Puriņš and Kristīne Prauliņa – will perform Davis’s music from across five decades of the 20th century.

Food and wine
They say Miles loved nothing more than a good barbecue, especially when visiting his hometown of St. Louis. In New York, he and good old Charlie Parker were partial to roast chicken. That does not necessarily mean we will be serving only barbecue and chicken...
He reportedly drank the hard stuff – gin, vodka and whisky. He also consumed cocaine and heroin in considerable quantities, particularly in the early 1950s (sorry, those will not be making an appearance at dinner).
Later, once he had made a pile of money and could afford to live in style, he developed a taste for top-class Champagne.
There is no record of Miles having one particular favourite wine. That does not mean we will not let our imaginations run wild and present our own vision of what Miles might have enjoyed drinking – and why.
Rest assured, we will pair Miles’s musical legacy with the finest possible wines from Vieta wine bar’s extensive portfolio. Valters Zirdziņš and the B7 team will dream up the food to match.
You’re going to love it!
