ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY - Comedy Film Fest at FOMO Cinema
Sunday 19. April at 17:00 - 18:30
FOMO Secret Cinema, Tbilisi
Adam McKay | 2004 | USA | 1h34m | English audio with English subtitles
ANCHORMAN is one of the funniest and most rewatchable American comedies of the 2000s. Adam McKay and Will Ferrell take the macho vanity of 1970s broadcast news and turn it into a film where every scene feels like an excuse for somebody to say something dumber than the last person. It is broad, stupid, quotable, and built with total confidence in the comic value of overgrown men behaving like children in expensive suits.
What makes the film last is how densely packed it is. Even people who know it by heart keep finding new lines, new reactions, new absurd details in the background. Beneath all the nonsense there is also a sharp satire of television masculinity, office insecurity, and media vanity, though the film wisely never stops to congratulate itself for noticing any of that.
