ETERNAL: Piano Recital with Linda Leine

The most profound human longings and desires never change. "ETERNAL" by Linda Leine is the musical answer to our often breathless present—a timeless space for solace, peace, and pure joy.

Linda Leine – Piano

About the Program: The evening unfolds as an emotional journey through these universal themes. It begins with striking relevance in Leoš Janáček's piano sonata—a musical memorial for a young student who lost his life during a demonstration; a motif of resistance and grief that resonates just as strongly today. Robert Schumann's "Ghost Variations," his final work before falling silent, also echo like a direct, touching call from another world.

Yet, these shadows are followed by radiant light. The works of Scriabin and Debussy burst forth with pure exuberance and vitality. In between, the delicate miniatures of Ukrainian composer Valentyn Silvestrov create islands of silence, giving us room to breathe. The conclusion belongs to Olivier Messiaen: his music brings a moment of hope that leaves behind deep inner peace.

Program:

  • Leoš Janáček: Piano Sonata 1. X. 1905 "From the Street"

  • Valentyn Silvestrov: Miniatures from 4 Pieces op. 2

  • Alexander Scriabin: Piano Sonata No. 4, op. 30

  • Claude Debussy: L’isle joyeuse

  • Robert Schumann: Theme with Variations ("Ghost Variations"), WoO 24

  • Olivier Messiaen: The Kiss of the Infant Jesus
