Klubi Uus Laine avab sügishooaja pohhui-wave’i ja uue räpipeosarjaga
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Club Uus Laine is opening its new season with two LIVE shows and launch of new rap and hip-hop oriented DJ series SPIT. Taking the stage will be two local bands that fit both under the difficult-to-translate term called pohhui-wave – meaning in one way or another they don’t really care how they make their music and get around in the industry.
The modus operandi of Siemens Nokia – whose debut album which was released last year gave life and content to the aforementioned term – is to make music as nonchalantly as possible – come together to their rehearsal space, make a song and basically leave it as it is. Mixing rap, 90's arrogant beats and post-punk with a bold hand, Siemens Nokia doesn't sweat it or polish anything – if it sounds alright even a little bit, it goes.

The principle of making music for NKN, who calls itself a post-ironic hip-hop ensemble, is quite similar – as critic Aleksander Algo has pointed out, they don't care about release dates, singles or advertising, and they release music without much fuss whenever they really want, and are also very efficient in this regard – in two years they have released nine albums, most recently in April this year. They don’t care to the extent that they even do not reveal who they are, but have never really hidden their identities either.

With the opening party of the season, we will also launch a new rap music focused DJ party series called SPIT, run by a local group of rap fans and friends, who have been seen and heard here and there on the decks before – Merit Maarits, Mari-Anna Miller, Richard Pohjanheimo and Mihkel Noot. This time it's Merit and Richard doing the selection, choosing everything from old school boom bap to modern mumble.
