Sunset is truly a magical time to experience the bog. Enjoy Estonia's long summer evenings, take a refreshing swim in a bog pool and look for ripe cloudberries. You'll experience all of this while walking across the soft carpet of floating peat moss.
PLEASE NOTE: As this is a sunset hike, if the evening is rainy or heavily cloudy, the hike may be moved to 10:00 AM on the same day.
The bog-shoe hike takes place in the Kõnnu Suursoo bog in the North-Kõrvemaa Nature Reserve, just a 1-hour drive from Tallinn. The surrounding landscape with its hills and valleys, is often called the “Swiss Alps of Estonia”, offering great views and a truly unique bog experience.
We start the hike near the RMK Järvi Pärnjärve campsite (exact starting point will be sent to participants). In the bog, we’ll move at a relaxed pace, giving you time to notice the beauty of the bog landscape, take photos and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Along the way, we'll talk about the bog, its unique nature and stop for a snack break. If you wish, you can go for a swim in a bog pool located in a peaceful spot away from the boardwalk. Hiking on bog shoes, we will reach the watching tower from where we will continue back to the starting point on the boardwalk without the bog shoes..
Transportation from Tallinn/Rae parish and back can be booked for an extra fee of 10€ per person. If transportation is needed, please check availability with the organizer before purchasing a ticket. Please send a message in WhatsApp +372 5307 2169 (Kätlin).
