Saturday Male Figure Drawing Workshop 28/03
A full day of DRAWING!
The Workshop, Pärnu maantee 19, II korrus, Tallinn
This Saturday course will take place on 28/3 at 13:00-18:00 at The _workshop (Pärnu maantee 19, 2nd floor). Juhendamine eesti ja inglise keeles. Instruction in English and Estonian.
For this course we will be drawing the male figure from a live model.
We will be starting with the construction of the simplified shapes and forms of the complex human figure, defining the big lights and shadows, and finalizing the drawing with detail work in an area we've chosen as the focus of the artwork.
This course is beginner friendly, but can also help intermediate level artspeople in growing their understanding of the craft of portraiture.
The group size will be limited to 8 participants.
At The _workshop we will provide you with easels, boards and tape and sharpening devices
Basic required materials:
You will need to bring the following materials:
1. You will need a sheet of A2 vatman drawing paper. For intermediate and above if you plan on drawing a head and shoulders half-figure -- A1 sized sheet of paper can be better.
2. We can draw with graphite OR charcoal.
2.1 Graphite can be slightly easier to handle and you would need a range of pencils. Minumum: 5B, 2B, and HB.
2.1 For drawing with charcoal a soft and a hard charcoal pencil + vine charcoal. Optional: pressed charcoal for larger areas of blacks
3. A harder rubber eraser
4. A soft kneadable eraser
5. For charcoal: a fixer agent/spraynd, hard-bristled brushes sized small (under 10mm) to medium (10-20mm) and one larger ~30mm+ flat brush to cover larger surfaces.
5. Palette knife (not required if working with gouache)
6. A palette suitable for oil paints (preferably wooden) (alternatives suitable for water based media)
7. Turpentine holder that can be attached to the palette (cups for water for water based media)
