Seismograph Body® Workshop Dancing the Relationships Between Our Bodies and the World
Corps sismographe® is a method of instantaneous choreographic composition designed for both stage performances and site-specific dances. Developed by choreographer Nadia Vadori-Gauthier, Phd, the practice combines concrete tools for sensory bodily grounding, composition, and shaping with unconscious and imaginary elements to support the creation of engaged and unique forms.
Dance engages in sensitive relationships with matter and living things and activates a dynamic of reciprocity between the internal and the external: the body, like a seismograph, traces in real time the information it perceives (images, movements, impressions, sensations…). This practice guides perception from one layer to the next, allowing the exploration—through choreographic phrasing and composition—of different registers of sensation and perception. It also incorporates work with emotion, the imagination, and the unconscious in the creative process.
