Henriikka Himma and her working group’s Sakraaliesseet is a site-specific performance at Alppila Church from August 20 to 23, 2025. Sakraaliesseet explores where we can come together to explore the joys and sorrows of life, as well as its existential and cosmic questions, as part of everyday experience. Alppila Church is also an example of a broader phenomenon: many modern churches built between the 1960s and 1990s are being demolished or closed due to lack of use and structural issues.

Sakraaliesseet consists of performance art, stage essay, dance, and organ music. The performance is based on the essay Sakraaliesseet written by Henriikka Himma, which will be published in August 2025.
