Introducing Ensemble Nist-Nah: a groundbreaking fusion of Gamelan and percussion.

Spearheaded by acclaimed Australian drummer and percussionist, Will Guthrie, based in Nantes, this ensemble represents Guthrie's innovative exploration, blending the rich textures of Gamelan instruments with traditional drum kits, diverse percussions, and an array of unconventional sound sources.

Inspired by Guthrie's immersive experiences in Indonesia and deep study of Gamelan traditions, Nist-Nah's repertoire transcends mere exoticism, delving into a realm where resonant metals and metal percussion create intricate sonic tapestries, evoking both the classical elegance of Javanese Gamelan Sekatan and the contemporary avant-garde compositions of Dewa Alit.

Featuring a dynamic lineup of eight accomplished musicians hailing from diverse backgrounds, Nist-Nah promises a captivating journey through experimental soundscapes, seamlessly weaving elements of free jazz, electro-acoustic music, and avant-garde experimentation.
