Guided tour "Triangle" (in English)

Vabaduse väljak 10, Tallinn

The guided tour “Triangle” invites you on a time journey into the mid-1980s. The triangle around Freedom Square became a gathering place for the free spirits of that time: bohemians and dissidents, punks and hippies, poets and pickpockets, gays and outlaws. During the last years of the Soviet period, the triangle became a springboard for the first protest gestures leading to political rupture and change.

The histories of literature, punk culture, LGBT+ communities are usually told separately from each another. There is not much knowledge how these partially underground subcultures interacted, but it is certain that their paths crossed from time to time. The guided tour “Triangle” narrates three histories next to each other and seeks for connections between them.

The tour on 13 September is English.

The tour is guided by Airi Triisberg.

The duration of the walk is 2 hours. The walking route starts from Freedom square, moves upstairs to Harjumägi and then downstairs to Harju street. The event takes place also with rainy weather.
