We are glad to keep holding this Japanese Kintsugi Class in 2025!
Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is Japanese traditional technique or art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with natural lacquer named Urushi (漆), tree sap grows in Japan.
The philosophy behind Kintsugi is to highlight the beauty in imperfection including Wabi-Sabi (侘び寂び) spirit and to see the breakage as a part of the object's history and character, also deep appreciation for nature being. This spirituality of Kintsugi from Japan and slow work with your own hands and sense may give you a new perspective for your life and current fast-paced world.
Currently more easy quick type of Kintsugi which using epoxy resin is getting popular but this Japanese traditional Kintsugi is more slow, step-by-step process with getting used to know about unique character of natural Urushi lacquer.
Let's have peace and calm, slow-down repairing time together.
