In our workshops we will look at a variety of playful approaches to creating spontaneous theatre, and asking:
how can we help the improviser slow down and stay in the moment;
how can we resist the desire to force a story and allow it to emerge;
how can we use other aspect of stage practice such as song, movement and puppetry to enhance the work we create.
We will explore these ideas with curiosity and lightness, and as ever with improvised work, we will embrace the joys of not quite knowing what comes next!
This workshop is instructed by UK’s award-winning theatre company Improbable.
**NB! A ticket for the evening show is currently not included in the price of the workshop ticket, since we are not completely sure we can offer additional seats with a proper view to the show. However if you're keen to see the show in the evening, we recommend to come and discuss this at the event with the organizing team. We are sure we can figure something out.

Improv theater is a form of theater where a stage play is created in collaboration with the actors during its performance. The action, characters, locations and dialogue of the play are thought up at the moment of the performance. Some of the mental health benefits of improv are reduced stress and social anxiety, and improved communication skills in everyday life.
NB! The workshop is in English.
This workshop is included in the Improv Festival happening on April 13th, which is part of the project "Stand Up For Your Mind".
The project “Stand up for your mind!” is part of the main programme of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024.
This project is implemented in collaboration with the British Council in Estonia to support social cohesion under the People To People Cultural Engagement program. For more information about the work of the British Council in Estonia: www.britishcouncil.ee
