On Saturday, 10 October 2026, dozens of farm saunas across Rõuge and Old Võromaa will open their doors for a single day — smoke saunas, chimney saunas, savvusann-style saunas and lake saunas — and everyone is welcome to step inside.
This is the heart of the Sanna! 2026 – Health Comes From the Sauna weekend: a day when farms and sauna families open their doors and share their sauna, their story and their steam with anyone who wants to experience Võrumaa's sauna culture the way it has been passed down here for generations. Some saunas are over a hundred years old and connected to old smithies, others are brand new savvusann-style saunas with a dome-shaped stove. There are lake saunas with far-reaching views, smoke saunas hidden in forest quiet, and farms where sauna time is followed by a shared meal or the chance to stay overnight.
Choose the place that speaks to you, read the descriptions, and book your spot on the sauna bench that calls to you. Some saunas suit a small group, others a larger one; some offer a private experience, others open their door to everyone interested.
