Enver Izmailov is a virtuoso guitarist, composer, and musical experimenter who blends jazz, funk, ethnic, and other styles in his work. A live concert by Enver Izmailov is an unforgettable experience that allows the audience to feel the magic of the master's music. His music is characterised by high craftsmanship, originality, expressiveness, and emotionality.
He was born in 1955 in Fergana, Uzbekistan, into a family of Crimean Tatars who were deported from Crimea in 1944. After graduating from a music school with a major in bassoon in Tajikistan, he taught himself to play the electric guitar and developed his unique tapping technique (spider), where both hands are on the instrument's neck.
In the 1980s, he was a member of the jazz-rock band "Sato," which performed at Soviet and international festivals. In the early 1990s, he moved to Crimea, where he began collecting and arranging Crimean Tatar folklore. He also created solo programs, showcasing his vision of ethno-jazz synthesis. He led a trio with flutist Narket Ramazanov and drummer Rustem Bari (album "Minaret," 1999).
Over his long and prolific career, Enver Izmailov has recorded dozens of albums, including "The Eastern Legend" (1993), "With My Best Wishes!" (2004), "Around the Black Sea" (2007), and "River Of Time" (2009). He has played with many global jazz stars such as Bobby McFerrin, Burhan Öçal, Xavier Garcia, and others. He has participated in jazz festivals in Poland, Latvia, Russia, Finland, Germany, Norway, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, England, and other countries.
Enver Izmailov is a People's Artist of Ukraine (2009), the winner of the first prize at the European International Guitar Competition in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the recipient of many other awards and honorary titles.
