Aigu Om! festival: KRISTIINA EHIN / SILVER SEPP / MARI KALKUN / Eva Mitreikina / Eva-Lotta Vunder ja Madis Meister

Cosy music and poetry night where you will hear the thoughts about time and water both in word and music. The venue, Viitina Barn, will be open only for this one special evening in 2022 to host Estonian folk stars Silver Sepp, Kristiina Ehin, Mari Kalkun. Special guests Eva Mitreikina, Eva-Lotta Vunder and Madis Meister will add a mindful vibe to the concert programme.

Silver Sepp is a playful songwriter, singer and extraordinary fantasist, making music out of everything he touches and playing his own self-made instruments such as the famous nail instrument (made out of a log and bunch of nails). Kristiina Ehin is by no doubt one of Estonia´s most beloved writers and poets. Her poetry, digging deep into the roots and bringing unexpected parallels from the present, has touched many in Estonia and abroad. Together, they present a programme "Ajajõel" / 'On The River of Time' in Viitina.

Mari Kalkun has toured in Europe and Japan with her solo concerts, but her roots and family are from Viitina and she is hosting the concert programme in the barn she has inherited. She plays kannel, accordion and various folk instruments. Mari’s music is at once of a place and deeply personal. Rooted in ancient Estonian and Võru traditions, her voice seems to speak to us from the heart of Estonian forest.

Eva Mitreikina plays her own dreamy music and world music inspired by her Inkerian-Finnish, Estonian, Ukranian, Russian and Jewish roots. "Fragile, pleasantly cold like a snowflake, that touched your cheek," as her music is described in one of the record reviews. Eva's music is at the same time philosophic and primal, her voice makes you stop, listen and think. She´s rarely seen perform, so her short solo concert in Viitina is a good chance to look into her world.
