DISCOVER EMBROIDERY — With Barbara Muff, co-founder from the Institut für Textiles Forschen

Saturday 17. May at 11:00 - 13:30

MAISON SHIFT – 1st Floor / Metal Stairs, Zürich

In a playful, creative, and accessible way, you will discover embroidery with simple hand movements. Dive into a versatile craft, experiment with various materials, and create your first embroidery project on fabric or a garment.

Learn the art of creative work with needle and thread on fabric or on a garment. The course will teach you how to handle an embroidery hoop, and you'll create your own small collection of stitches, including outline and filling stitches. Experiment with different yarns and discover how they affect the design. The learned stitches and techniques will form the foundation for creating your own designs in an embroidery project. Different transfer methods will be taught, allowing you to transfer drawings or patterns onto fabric.

Various subjects will be provided, which you can transfer onto fabric or a garment/accessory you bring and embroider directly.

Barbara Muff (studied Fashion Design at FHNW Basel | Art Mediation HSLU-Lucerne | co-founder and management at the Institut für Textiles Forschen Basel) has learned and loved various embroidery techniques through her studio fellowship in Mexico and several trips to South America. Using examples she brings, she shows where she continually finds inspiration.

What to bring: Materials will be provided by the instructor.
No prior experience required.
