Shaping Europe's Digital Future: A Closed-Door Briefing on the Digital Fairness Act
Wednesday 20. May at 08:00 - 09:25
Kultuurikatel Torn, Tallinn
You are warmly invited to join a Latitude59 side event, Shaping Europe's Digital Future, a closed-door briefing and discussion on the Digital Fairness Act (DFA), taking place on the morning of May 20th at Kultuurikatel.
Shaping Europe's Digital Future explores what the European Commission's push to reshape digital consumer protection actually means in practice. While the goal of a fair online environment is universal, the execution matters. We will dive into whether the DFA risks becoming a regulatory maze that stifles innovation and hampers business growth, or whether it can genuinely strengthen trust without slowing Europe down. We will also examine whether better enforcement of existing rules, such as the DSA, might be the smarter path, and what it will take to keep the EU a competitive, pro-innovation market.
Expect a candid conversation among policymakers, industry leaders, and business representatives about the practical realities of the DFA, its impact on the tech ecosystem and European competitiveness, and whether it should go ahead at all. This is not a passive panel. The group has been intentionally kept small so every voice at the table has room to challenge assumptions and shape the narrative.
The discussion will be moderated by Doris Põld, Director General of the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITL) and Vice-President of the DIGITALEUROPE Executive Board. With 16 years of experience representing Estonia's ICT industry and a seat at the table where European digital policy is shaped, Doris brings both the national and the EU-wide lens to the conversation.
