About the Speakers

Carsten Peters is the CEO of Digital Schooling, a Google Cloud partner, Carsten blends his experience in education and technology to support researchers. He facilitates easy contracts, research credits, and efficient onboarding of workloads into the cloud console. Carsten also offers free workshops, enhancing collaboration with institutes like Leibniz, and Helmholtz, and universities such as ETH Zurich and EPFL Lausanne.

Heike Choi works as a Customer Engineer at Google Cloud for the public sector and supports customers in implementing their projects. A main focus is on integrating new Google Cloud products into the existing infrastructure with the aim of creating a future-oriented architecture that enables data-driven decisions. Before joining Google, she worked as a technical architect at Accenture. In various projects and roles, she has implemented cloud-native architectures and supported customers in their digitalization strategy.

Alex Schröder is the Google Cloud Lead for Higher Education and Research, based in Hamburg. With over five years at Google, he is responsible for driving Google Cloud's initiatives in the higher education, research, education and government technology sectors. As a passionate AI ambassador and learner, Alex has a strong personal preference for hands-on coding and cloud skills. He has played a key role in supporting numerous research projects at renowned institutions such as TU Munich, ETH Zürich, EPFL, CERN, and the University of Hamburg. Alex's expertise extends to facilitating the OCRE framework at Google Cloud, which enables researchers to access larger amounts of cloud compute without the need for time consuming tendering processes. He is particularly interested in Large Language Models, Large Multimodal Models, and Transformer deep learning architecture. Through his dedication to empowering the academic and research communities, Alex continues to foster innovation and advancements in these fields.
