TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE is one of the stupidest films ever made by very intelligent people. Trey Parker and Matt Stone use puppets, action-movie clichés, patriotic bombast, celebrity activism, and total bad taste to create a comedy that is simultaneously infantile and razor sharp. The film is loud, offensive, musically deranged, and engineered to extract a laugh from even the most woke of viewers.

What keeps it alive is that the satire never feels polite. The film attacks American imperial swagger, liberal self-importance, blockbuster heroics, and public piety with equal enthusiasm. The marionette gimmick is not just a joke, it becomes the whole comic engine of the film, making every shootout, speech, and emotional crisis look even more ridiculous than it already is.

WHY I'VE INCLUDED IT IN THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM: It's total comic vandalism whose jokes land just as hard today as they did when it was first released over 20 years ago. TEAM AMERICA is the perfect Friday-night provocation, a film that keeps pushing the joke long after good taste would have told it to stop.
