Anam's Fundraiser Show

Dear friends,

Please join us for a community gathering to support one of our resident overthinkers. We are organising this event to stand in solidarity with Anam who has been navigating years of chronic illness, medical neglect, and racism.

This fundraiser is to help Anam sustain ongoing massive medical costs and bridge the critical gap in her recovery, prevent further crashes, and continue crucial therapies until she is able to return to full-time work and regular social life.

It is also an opportunity for all of us to come together, experience the community love and support a good cause. And for this reason, we have exciting things happening at this event.

A little bit about Anam:

Anam is a queer Pakistani storyteller, entrepreneur, programmer, and former journalist currently living in Berlin.

Before her illness, Anam overcame significant hardships in Pakistan and abroad to begin building a safer life in Europe rooted in impact, innovation, community, and freedom. While attending college on a full scholarship in the U.S., she was one of the youngest journalists to publish a global feature with Reuters, with additional work appearing in outlets like The Washington Post. Her work has spanned policy at UNICEF and the OECD, activism for women’s rights and education in Pakistan, and leadership and strategy roles in tech startups and Fortune 500 companies across three continents.

The onset of her illness has put her career on hold and made day-to-day life extremely difficult. Living with this level of illness is not just difficult — it is a full-time job that nobody pays you for.

On top of basic daily responsibilities, Anam spends nearly all her limited energy managing symptoms, attending constant medical appointments, filling out endless paperwork and insurance forms, following strict nutrition and treatment protocols, and fighting for access to care she urgently needs but is repeatedly denied.

This prevents her from being able to pace herself, triggering Post-Exertion Malaise crashes and repeated pain attacks. There has been no room to rest, and no family support to fall back on. This fundraiser is an attempt to also ease some of that pressure.
