Have you ever wanted to write a comedy series for TV or radio? Maybe you’ve already started on the script and want to check you’re on the right track.

In this Festrogen Festival workshop, writer and founder of Female Pilot Club Kay Stonham will help you develop a sitcom around a character.
Workshop participants should come with an idea for a comic character that they’d like to explore. During the session, they will place their character in a setting that will give rise to comedic stories.

In this workshop, which is open to feminists of any gender, you will:

  • Creating a character
  • Finding their world
  • Discovering friends and enemies
  • Creating comic situations

About the instructor:

Kay Stonham has had a long career writing and performing Radio and TV comedy in the UK.
Since gaining an MA in Screenwriting for Film and Television in 2011 she has also taught scriptwriting at Bournemouth and Worcester Universities and at the London Film Academy. She is currently a writing mentor at the NFTS London.
In 2019, along with writer/performer/novelist Abigail Burdess, Kay founded Female Pilot Club to produce showcases of sit-com pilots written by women in front of a live audience. Writers featured in FPC’s showcases have their scripts optioned, gained representation or received a much-needed sisterly leg-up in the comedy industry. You can hear them share their experiences as well as some golden nugget of comedy writing advice on the Female Pilot Club Podcast on Spotify, Apple, or where ever you get your podcasts

This workshop is part of Festrogen, a women-centric, multi-part comedy festival hosted in Luxembourg.
