TAB2024 “Resources for a Future” biennale satellite seminar “Present(ing) Resources” presents successful projects of material circulation in the field of space creation and looks for visions of how to deal with Tallinn’s vacant or depreciated building stock. Theoreticians and practitioners of European architecture are invited to offer their ideas in the panel. “PRESENT(ING) RESOURCES” seminar will be moderated by urban sustainability expert Tõnis Arjus (EST).

Opening words by the representative of the Estonian Ministry of Climate

Kristiaan Borret, Chief Architect of Brussels (BE)
Kristiaan Borret is the “bouwmeester” of Brussels Capital Region (2015-2024), advocating for spatial quality in urban development. Formerly serving in Antwerp and now also supervising two major transformation areas in Amsterdam, he embraces an independent position in his role. Additionally, he is a professor of urban design at Ghent University since 2005.

Juliane Greb, architect and founder of Büro Juliane Greb (DE)
Büro Juliane Greb is dedicated to anti-exclusive, i.e. accessible architecture in social, physical and emotional dimensions. In 2023, the studio curated the German pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. The “Open for Maintenance” concept encouraged discussions in the context of the existing stock of buildings, sustainability and resource conservation from a historical and social perspective.

Laurens Bekemans, architect / BC architects & studies & materials (BE)
Laurens Bekemans, co-founder of BC architects & materials & studies, presents the studio’s projects and talks about support from the public sector in implementing experimental projects in Belgium.

Matthieu Brasebin (FR), Elisabeth Terrisse de Botton** (ES), architects / Brasebin-Terrisse
The winners of the TAB2024 installation competition will present the “No Time To Waste” prototype and the larger vision of the pavilion which will be built at Balti Jaam.

The seminar will be finished with a panel discussion TALLINN AS URBAN STOCK with Laurens Bekemans, Juliane Greb, Kristiaan Borret and others.
