Sofia Rubina, one of Estonia’s brightest jazz voices, brings new life under the arches of Fox Den’s historic cellar. Rooted in tradition and enriched with improvisation, her music radiates energy, colour, and optimism, effortlessly blending the genres you love. From the elegance of jazz standards to soulful grooves and modern collaborations, Sofia’s artistry promises to move both body and soul.
Inspired at an early age by golden voices such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Dianne Reeves, Sofia began vocal lessons at the age of ten. She later refined her craft at Boston’s Berklee Global Jazz Institute under the guidance of Danilo Pérez, further expanding her creative horizon.
Over the years, she has collaborated with the Estonian Dream Big Band, Kaunas Big Band, Latvian Radio Big Band, and renowned composers including Latvia’s Raimond Pauls and American trumpeter Phillip Lassiter. With six albums to her name and performances that have taken her from Blue Note in New York to stages across Europe and Asia, Sofia’s music carries both global reach and intimate charm.
Joining her is Latvian pianist Artis Boriss, a jazz musician, keyboardist, and producer whose passion lies in sonic exploration. Beyond jazz, he experiments with textures, synthesizers, and rhythms, bringing a fresh and contemporary sound to every performance.
Together, Sofia Rubina and Artis Boriss create an evening where tradition meets innovation, and every note celebrates the joy of music.
