Building on the Built: Helga Blocksdorf
Wednesday 22. October at 19:00 - 20:30
Tuckey Design Studio, London
This October we are very excited to be joined by architect Helga Blocksdorf, founder of HELGA BLOCKSDORF / ARCHITEKTUR.
Helga founded her Berlin-based architecture office in 2013 and the practice has largely focused on transformational projects, receiving many accolades for sensitive interventions within existing buildings in both urban and rural situations.
Since 2021, Helga has also been professor and head of the Institute for Construction (IKON) at TU Braunschweig, where her research has focused on the ecological transformation of buildings and includes projects focusing on digital timber fabrication, mixed masonry and birch bark.
An example of Helga’s multi-disciplinary approach is given by the Constructive Disobediences conference which was held in 2022. This focused on how experimentation in construction could be better understood and so aimed to help make the improvisation needed when engaging with existing buildings be better utilised during the construction process.
Helga will be discussing the work of her architectural office and her teaching practice at the offices of Tuckey Design Studio at 58 Milson Road, London W14 OLB in West London at 7:00pm on Wednesday 22nd October 2025.
