WWT Grandparents’ Day Show AND Tell (and write!)

You’ve heard the writing advice “show, don’t tell”, but we invite you to Show AND Tell on 13 September.

WWT member, poet and writer Wendy Winn invites you to a writers’ event and workshop on the theme of grandparents, in honour of Grandparents’ Day.

You’re invited to bring or wear (or both) an item that you associate with your grandparents – this could be

- A granny-knitted sweater

- A decorative plate

- A silver spoon

- A shrunken monkey head (we won’t judge)

- A stamp collection

Anything you can easily bring to the venue, which we are delighted to announce as being the newly opened creative oasis, Lofy’s Place. You can bring one or two items, although we may only have time to talk about one depending on the number of participants.

In addition, please feel encouraged to bring along a favourite cake, pie, bread, cookies or other easy-to-carry, afternoon workshop appropriate goody prepared from a recipe passed down to you from your grandparents.

And feel free to wear any article of clothing given to you by your grandparents, or which used to belong to one of them.

None of this in mandatory, although the workshop focuses on the items you will be bringing for the show and tell portion of the event. There will, as befits events organised by WWT, also be time dedicated to writing – poetry, flash, essays or parts of longer works – whatever emerges!

Tea, coffee and cake will be provided.
