Inspired by our Leah and her beloved icon Mama Cass Elliot (of the Mamas & Papas), we endeavour to take you on a vibrant journey through the histories of Soul, Funk, Disco, R&B, Folk-Rock & Motown music.
Our night begins with a Vinyl and CD swap, so if you have any old & loved records or CDs who have served their time with you, or you're on the hunt to expand your tastes and try something new, our event is the place to be! Come along from 7:30pm and have a little drink as you meet and chat with other music lovers, sharing the joy and memories you found in your music. We'll be joined by vinyl mixing master Ross Wilson (of Beat Generation Records), who'll be around to share his wisdom on the early influences of R&B, Soul and Funk, before he steps up to the decks later on to lay down some fierce tunes. We'll also be joined by DJing heroes Archie, DJ Leather Upgrade (of Fragrance & VoxBox Music) and Charlie Gates (of Oedipus and the Mama's boys), for a night filled with dancing, laughter and rhythms to lose yourself to.
Beautiful Thing is a heart warming coming-of-age romance celebrating queer joy, resilience and self-expression. With that we are aiming to raise funds to donate to organisations helping to tackle queer homelessness in the UK, such as the Albert Kennedy Trust and the Outside Project (London). After costs, profits from this fundraiser will be directed to our charities. Further donations at the time of the event are more than welcome.
Okay, that's all for now. we'll see you there! Bring your old records, cd's and good vibes because you're in for a truly fabulous night.
As always, all our love - Beautiful Thing x
